Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Graphene Based Organic Electronics
Information about the project
Organic electronic devices such as solar cells are an important category of next generation components. However, ITO, the material for transparent electrodes in organic electronics, consists of scarce indium. Graphene, a monolayer of carbon atoms, will be explored as the ITO substitute. Scalable graphene can be synthesized by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Nevertheless, graphene-based organic electronics has two major bottlenecks in terms of real application: 1. The heavy-metal-emitting graphene transfer and 2. The poor device process reliability. This project will try to address the problems.This Postdoc project is jointly hosted by the Departments of Microtechnology and Nanoscience (MC2), Chemical and Biological Engineering (KB), and Materials and Manufacturing Technology (MMT).
The details of our research activities may be found at:http://www.chalmers.se/en/departments/mc2/research and www.chalmers.se/graphene Chalmers is coordinating the Graphene Flagship project in Europe; Chalmers is advanced in solar cell research (see Chalmers solar); Chalmers possesses very good material characterization tools.
Major responsibilities
The successful candidate should work on:
i) CVD growth and electrochemical delamination of graphene;
ii) Transfer-free processing for flexible organic electronic devices and performance optimization;
iii) Theoretical mechanism of the electrochemical delamination;
iv) Material characterization for graphene and organics. The work you are performing is interdisciplinary by nature. Hence, you will closely collaborate with other mentors/researchers.
Your major responsibility as postdoc is to perform your own research. However, the position may also include some supervision of master's and/or PhD students. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector.
Position summary
The position is a post-doc position (full-time employment) of 1 year with the possibility of 1 year extension.
Qualifications
We are looking for a self-motivated, independent and creative excellent young researcher. The successful candidate should have a PhD (generally not older than three years) in Chemistry, Physics, Solid-State Electronics or Material Science with strong past research experience preferably, but not necessarily, in organic electronics and electrochemistry. According to Chalmers rule, you must get your PhD degree within the past 3 years. You must be able to start the project no later than the spring of 2014. Experiences in nanoscale fabrication, semiconductor physics, material characterization and graphene science are all considered as a merit. The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English.
Application procedure
The application should be marked with Ref 20130406 and written in English. The application should be sent electronically and be attached as pdf-files, as below:
Application: (Please name the appendix in the e-recruitment system as: APPLICATION, Surname, reference number)
− CV, include complete list of publications,
− Two references that we can contact.
Personal letter/Qualifications 1-2 pages where you introduce yourself, present your qualifications and describe your future research plans, as well as previous research fields and main results.
Other:
− Attested copies of completed education, degree certificates, grades and other certificates.
Please use the button at the foot of the page to reach the application form. The files may be compressed (zipped).
Application deadline: January 31, 2014
