H1B and adjustment of status mychinafor2005-01-08 00:50:51

I filed I-140 and I-485 with my wife and will use AP to return China. I constantly get contradictory information on whether one can still keep H1B after using AP to return to US. I do not want to get H1B visa in China since I do not want to get checked for severa months, which will make me lost job. The questions are
1) Will we be still in H1B status if using AP
2) Can my wife apply GC based on her H1B after using AP if my case is turned off.
