I am new to this forum... A question want to ask the experts here. Per Canadian immigration law, you have to stay 2 years within 5 years in Canada to keep your GC valid. However, I heard that people can travel between Canada ans U.S. freely with valid I-94 card. When you pass the custom, they only look at your passport and don't put any mark on it. So my question is, how Canadian government knows where you are? If you have a valid address in Canada and pay your utilities/taxes, you shouldn't have to suffer the "immigration prison". Is this true? I am living near the border of two countries. How can I work in the U.S. and still keep my Canadian GC? Thanks for the help.
