I filed for green card for outstanding professor and researcher with Texas Service Center (I-140: May 2003; I-485: Jan. 2004). Both are still pending at TSC, even though the website shows TSC is already processing I-140 cases dated June 2004. The processing date for I-485 at TSC is Feb. 2003.

Here is my dilemma. I have the potential of getting another job offer from another university in CA. Job classifications are the same. I can foresee the following three scenarios and I am not sure which is the best.

1. Wait until my I-140 is approved at TSC (which I anticipate should not take that much longer, though you never know with USCIS) before moving to CA. In that case, should my I-485 stay with TSC or should I transfer it to CSC? If I transfer I-485 after I-140 approval, is there the risk that my current employer (under TSC jurisdiction) will revoke the I-140? Do transfer cases usually end up with a long wait time at the new service center?

2. Re-start the I-140/I-485 petitions all over again with CSC if I get the job in CA. CSC is already processing I-140/I-485 cases for my category for cases filed Aug. 2004. So I was thinking that I may not have lost that much at all if I start all over again.

3. Stay with my current employer until I get green card, which will be really depressing.

I am really confused about what I should do. I hope I get the job offer in CA as I really do not like where I am right now and I do not want my GC issue to affect my mobility. Which one of the above three options is the most feasible? Are there any other way out? Suggestions would be great appreciated.
