CALL OF THE MYSTIC Karunesh continues his explorations of spirituality and Asian mysticism with his third release for Real Music - CALL OF THE MYSTIC. The multi-instrumentalists flair for melodies that are lightly rhythmic, a tad melancholic and focused on Asian instruments like bansuri flute, tabla and Indian violin once again in showcased with this album of dreamy sonorities. The album is meant to create an atmosphere conducive to stillness and meditative healing practices. To that end, it definitely makes you want to sit back, relax and ponder your spirituality for about 50 minutes. The overall sound and feel of the album is very similar to what you've heard on his previous albums for Real Music; no surprises here, just quality meditation music.
COLOURS OF LIGHT Lively melodies and cheerful harmonies sparkle through waves of sound. Together with mystical moments Colours Of Light will induce a joyful and positive atmosphere. In one word: a classic.
GLOBAL SPIRIT GLOBAL SPIRIT is a showcase for the tried and true musical formula of Karunesh. With an arsenal of different instruments at his disposal (flutes, drums, sitar, didgeridoo, violin, synthesizers), the artist concocts spirited tunes that range from quiet, Asian-hued and introspective to celebratory tribal dance anthems. The latter can be felt in the happy energy of the African-themed "Kubula Ma" and the mystical dance beats of "Bombay Pure." Chants and panflutes commingle in moody trancescapes on "Native Rituals" and "Earthsong" (which is repeated later on the CD as a reprise) evokes a sense of peace and connection with the earth. HEART CHAKRA MEDITATION The rhythm and sounds of soft drums, Tibetan sound bowls, keyboards,bells, gong and chimes make this a perfect accompaniment to breath, movement and meditation exercises. NIRVANA CAFE Looking for a place to chill out? How about the NIRVANA CAF? Karunesh's sonic hot spot has the perfect ambiance for kicking back - moody piano/keyboard melodies, warm guitar rhythms (courtesy of guest artist Govi), light percussion and soothing synthesized atmosphere. The effect is slightly otherworldly, a tad spiritual and very easy on the ears. Each of the Govi-assisted tracks (especially "The Conversation" and "Follow Your Heart") stand out as highlights; his guitar sounds great when paired with Karunesh's moody backdrops. The Asian themed "Chuang Tzu's Dream" also adds a certain flair with its beautiful flute melodies that flutter throughout, and "Stargazing" brings the album's jazz undertones to the forefront.
