双语《Edelweiss》及二三花絮 AP339122021-10-02 00:00:49
Long ago in China, when I took a college English class, a young teacher played movie clips of "The Sound of Music " that I think might be my first time seeing a real foreign movie. Athogh I did not fully understand conversations in the movie, few songs amazed me then, including the song called "Edelweiss" , sung by a lead actor, Chris Plummer who played an Austrian captain run away from Nazi German. Later on I found out the movie had won at least 10 awards, back in the 60s, including Tony and Oscar, and the voice of "Edelweiss" singing in the film, was not from the actor Plummer himself, but a white guy named Billy Lee who provided a voice in many films.
Half century after the movie or the musical, people still remember the story , the actress / singer --Julie Andrews (see pic above), and songs such as "Edelweiss".
