Is he a puppy? perhaps he is teething then he would need to give him chewing bones,even fresh carrots, also a lot of toys to play with. Say a firm 'no'if you catch him chewing what he should not. If he doesn't stop, put him in a different room for 5 minutes to make him realise he just did something undesirable. Don't not punish him if he is not caught in action (Important!). He would feel confused.
He could also be lonely and nervous when going to bed alone. It would help him if you give him a treat, and one of your old clothes (with your scent ) to go to bed with. He would be much happier.
