MY e-mail to Zhejiang/Jinhua/Wucheng government:

Dear Zhejiang/Jinhua municipal/Wucheng district government,
I was so relieved when I read that the "Dog festival" that was slated to be held in September was cancelled. Yet I was told today that actually that the "Dog festival" is still going to be held on the 18th of October. According to what I have heard, instead of butchering dogs on the street out in the open, they will be rounded up to be butchered together in one location. I am so outraged! This is absolutely not acceptable. What Jinhua municipal and Wucheng district government has done (if true) is nothing but blatantly lying to and misleading the public and the media.
The "Dog festival" is such a savage and barbaric ritual that should have been cancelled permanently. What Jinhua/Wucheng is dong is tarnishing the image of not just Jinhua (as nobody outside of China knows Jinhua), but Zhejiang and China. At a time when the Chinese government is trying so hard to polish its image (just look at how much money they have spent running "informercials" at Time Square in New York City!), what Jinhua/Wucheng is doing is really doing a disservice to China and its image.
I have forwarded this e-mail to various western media outlets such as CNN, Reuters and hopefully this will bring awareness to this brutal and savage "festival" in Zhejiang to put a stop to this madness once and for all!
Sincerely,
Kim Myong-guk
