       An Eastern Ballad          七律·東方謠

 

I speak of love that comes to mind:             訴說情靈關愛意，
The moon is faithful, although blind;           遙望明月作皈依，
She moves in thought she cannot speak.    神思語噎偏盲後，
Perfect care has made her bleak.                 完璧鏡圓無欲時。
I never dreamed the sea so deep,                深海未曾逰夢境，
The earth so dark; so long my sleep,           濁寰卻已誤晨曦。
I have become another child                       輪回蝶化他家子，
I wake to see the world go wild.                  醒看世風狂野吹。

    金斯堡這首格律詩寫于二十世紀四十年代末，採用抑揚四音步格（iambic tetrameter），尾韻韻式為aabb ccaa，與詩人後來的《嚎叫》風格截然不同。
