Found dead in the bath: police launch manhunt
Police are appealing for help to track down a gyprock contractor they believe was the last person to see a Sydney father-of-two alive before his brutal murder last month.
Real estate agent Jiang Ming Hai, 28, was bludgeoned to death with a "blunt instrument" in a North Ryde house he was renovating on January 13, police said.
Investigators have spent the last month searching for Dong Jian, a 46-year-old gyprock contractor, who was working on the weatherboard house and is believed to be the last person who saw Jiang alive.
"We don't know where he is," Gladesville crime manager, Detective Inspector Ian McNab, said.
"He's been part of the team that's been working for him ... inquiries suggest he was possibly the last person to see Mr Jiang before his death."
Detective Inspector McNab said Mr Dong had not been back to his Eastwood home since Jiang's murder.
He is not believed to have left Australia, Detective Inspector McNab said.
Police are appealing for public assistance to find Mr Dong. Anyone with information that could help police should contact strike force Qualee on 9879 9699 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Jiang's elderly father found his son dead in the bath tub of the house after going there to look for him at about 9.30pm.
His wife, Yanna Fang, was in China at the time with their two young children, visiting family during the Chinese New Year celebrations.
