I have been driving Jeep Liberty for a long time as this is one of the very few vehicles can be flat towed behind a motor home which I bought in 2006 to tour USA. Among all vehicles with auto transmission in the US, only Jeep Liberty, Wrangler and Grand Cherokee can be towed towd this way because they have a two speed central differential. Over the years I observed the Jeep quality is not not bad as I originally thought. My first Liberty a 2006 Renegade trim verison, was retired last year over 157,000 miles after driven hard to many areas w/o paved roads. Besides routine services such as oil changes, filter replacements, brake services, O2 sensor replacements, spark plugs, batteries, tires, not much other problems occured. Unfortunately, Jeep stopped this platform and the new Cherokee, based on the worst FIAT platform, is changed to a transverse engine configuration w/o central differential so no longer flat towable. Grand Cherokee and Wrangler 4 door are too heavy for my motor home to tow behind. So I had to buy a used 2007 Liberty with 50k miles and transfered my towing adaptors to this vehicle. So far I observed similar quality level as my 2006 version. If you want to consider any domestic vehicle buy one at the end of their model years as most quality bugs have been worked out. Do not buy any vehicles at begining of their model line initial introduction launch!
