my laptop started to have a hang during bootup since yesterday - spoolsv is using up 50% of memory (it's for printer) observed in task manager.  updated virus definition and scanned but found nothing.  this program does sit in windows/system32 folder. 

noticed a scenario - some times the "printer and faxes" folder were blank but other times the items were there.  the two symptoms might be related but not sure which causes which.

any clue what need to do to cure?  (try to avoid reformat).  thanks.

stop spooler service, clear spooler directory

did you mean "spooler drive" the spool folder under system32?

Just followed your steps, it's good now. thank you much!!

开Console/DOS窗口，然后打下面的命令。。。

再加一条 net start spooler 恢复打印服务
