Dear Friends,

I'd like your opinion on the below situation:

H1-B will be 6 years on 02/17/2007.
Current company: Small, unstable, 78K, doing perm for me, in Southern California.
New Offer: Global, stable, 95k, promise to do perm within 6 months, in Bay Area,
Matches background well, growth potential.

I have decided to go for the new offer anyway but is worrying about the GC time. Initially they proposed to do my GC immediately but later on the HR lady said she would be happy to work on it with me within 6 months, after I agreed on the salary number. ( She knows my H1B is until 2007 and she thinks the Perm and I-140 is pretty fast after talking with the immigration attorney, but she doesn't know it is 2007/02 )

I know my new company wants me very much and also I want to work there very much as it is almost a perfect match. It is a mutually beneficial situation. I will talk with the HR lady about the GC details on my first day (end of this month ).

They are doing my H1-B transfer right now. Is there any point that I talk with the HR before I go there? Certainly the negotiaiton time has passed since I had signed the offer letter. Also I believe they already had the budget in mind. Is there any risk if I ask them to start the GC now ? I don't want to appera too demanding.

What is your opinion on these issues? I am just somehoe dwelling on these points. I have Canada GC in process( will get it within a year, I believe) and US GC is not an absolute necessity but I like my future job and I's like to stay as long as possible.

Thanks a million !!
