In 2002 I got laid off and the HR in the company told me that I can claim for unemployment insurance even though I was on H1. I claimed and got the unemployment benefit.
Now my current company want to apply green card for me. In the application one of the questions asks:
Have you ever received public assistance in the U.S. from any source, including the U.S. government or any state, county, city, or municipality (other than emergency medical treatment), or are you likely to receive public assistance in the future?
Should I mention the unemployment insurance I claimed in 2002 here? Does any one know if there is any impact for the green card process?
