Could anyone tell me how I can know that FBI has started my name check? Will USCIS inform me, or I need to check with FBI myself?

My I-485 has been pending for 5 months, and my NIW was approved 4 months ago. I was born in mainland China, and will the visa number retrogression affect the name check like the processing of I-485?
