I understand “interfile” is a process to transfer previously-filed I-485 to recently-approved I-140, e.g., to get a higher preference category and also retain priority date. However, there are some little devils in details. My case is as follows:

Self-filed NIW concurrently with I-485, still in pending status.
Employer-filed EB1-B, I-140 approved on 04/18/2006 and current now.

To do interfile, should I myself interfile an amendment to my NIW case to "push" I-485 to newly-approved I-140, or should I ask employer’s attorney to interfile a new I-485 case to "pull" I-485 from my NIW.

In the later case, do I have to show any kind of authorization to allow attorney to do so?

In the former case, would employer’s attorney get surprised when attorney sees the approval of I-485 which he never files?

Thanks

I interfiled my case on 6/5, haven't seen any update yet
