Cancel check and withdraw petition at same time? msnbc2006-07-14 14:53:26

I have filed a B2 petition several days ago. In order to withdraw the petition, I cancelled the check before USCIS cash it. Now I received the receipt notice. My questions is whether I need to write a withdrawal letter to USCIS? If I do, is there any harm/confliction(since I have cancelled the check).
