This is the letter I got from local senator's office. So sad to know that my name got checked. What should I do now?
I got in touch with the USCIS office in Vermont regarding your I-485 application. In their response they indicated that your I-140 has been approved, but that your I-1485 is still pending the FBI name check and security check, which is a standard part of a number of application processes. Until these checks are complete, US Citizenship and Immigration Services cannot continue with processing the application, nor can they inquire as to the status of the security checks because they are handled independently by the security agencies. Unfortunately, there is no time frame for how long these security checks could take. The fact that they are still pending should not be understood as there being something wrong. It often takes a long time for these checks to be completed. It is a policy of our office not to ask the security agencies to expedite these checks, nor can we inquire as to their status or progress.
