I have been in the US for more than 5 years, working as a researcher in a university for 5 years. I got my Green Card through NIW EB2 3 months ago. I am getting very frustrated with my research work and don't see any future there. I am just thinking about quitting my research job and going to school to study something that I really like( but I have to pass an exam first, and it may take at least 6 months to prepare for the exam if I study full time, and I couldn't do that if I have to work). In order to speed thing up, I want to quit job and stay at home for a year. I don't know if it is alright to quit my research job, through which I gained my GC. Is there any bad effect if I want to apply for citizenship in the future? Another concern is, my wife hasn't gotten GC yet because of the namecheck. I don't know if it will affect her GC approval if I quit job.
Anybody has some ideas? Thanks for your help.
