As we all know, after 911, due to the homeland security consideration and anti-immigrant sentiment, INS has slowed down immigration petition processing dramatically. Use VSC as an example, they were processing I-485 as of 1/15/02 on 8/15/03, 7 months has past and INS are now processing cases as of 1/31/02. They only moved forward 2 weeks in 7 months. At this rate, people who submit immigration petition today would wait 15 years before getting green card. This is just ridiculously intolerable. Especially for those who apply for green card through labor certification process, you can抰 lose job for a day before granted green card. Let抯 do something, write to your state抯 senator or house representative. Find them out from www.senate.gov or www.house.gov and tell them what you are suffering now. Or write to Tom Daschle(South Dakota), who is a big proponent of immigration law reform. Together, we can make it happen.
