I'm H1B, working in Texas, expiring in October. Filed renewal application and got the receipt (no approval notice). Going to Toronto Canada for a business trip (trade show) in November and need a visa. My questions are:
1. H1B renewal notice ok, or I have to wait on the approval notice?
2. Do they usually conduct an interview? If yes, will it be at local consulate? (Dallas has a consulate but does not issue visa)
3. I have a copy of employment letter (used to file I485), will the copy ok or original is needed? Will payslips sufficient to show my current working status? (try to avoid bothering company)
4. Which location to file application - DC, New York or Los Angeles? (if you know certain center process faster than others)
5. I485 AP pending, july filer. If I do not get AP before I leave and come back using H1B visa, my AP will be forfeited?
