Hi, a quick question about when and how to apply for an individual tax ID this year for my hu*****and. He does not have a SSN and have never filed tax before. He stayed in US the whole year of 2006. To do joint filing, he needs a tax identification number. When should we do that? Do I have to wait until he gets the number before I can file, or can we file right now and send the application at the same time? If so, how to do that? Any information is appreciated.
