I am chinese national. In Sep 2009, An american guy told me if he buy green card lottery for me, he can increase the chance of winning, and his relative works for the goverment. First, I gave him $1500 cash, he wrote a hardwrittern receipt says he received $1500 from me for the service to be made within 14 days... After a week, he said I won the greencard, he needed more money to finish all the paperwork. I gave him some more money, he gave me some more recepits.
He took total of $5300 from me. After a month, he asked more money, but the thing had not done. I then realised he is a real cheater, I would call the police. Unfortunately, He disappear one week later. I don't know where he lived, his cell phone also went out of service.
Recently, I visited the address that printed on his drivers license's copy. A lady seems know him as her x hu*****and, the guy seems come back to visit their daugther sometimes. However, she does not believe her x hu*****and scam people, and then told me fuck off.
I would like to know I still can report this to the police? I know it is diffcult to ask him to pay back my money, but I want police to find out where is the cheater, what does he do, and flag him as a bad person who might scam other people like me. How much will cost to file a complicant? Do I need a lawyer for this, is the guy going to attack me?
