My status is : H1-B holder (to expire in 2015), I-485 pending as dependent, have EAD at hand but it has never been used yet (to expire in April, 2013).
I got a job offer and my new employer wants me to work for them as soon as possible. So I originally planed to use my EAD. Last Friday, their lawyer said they may help me to get a special type of H1-B extension of "consular notification" as a backup if I don't want to use EAD. I appreciate their help but it also confused me.
My questions are:
1) as far as I know, once I use the EAD, my status will change away from H1-B forever and I will never be able to come back to H1B. So this seems mean their suggestion doesn't help at all.
2) what is the H1-B extension of consular notification? What is the impact to my current 485 pending and application (bad or no impact)? Should I ask them not do this?
Thanks a lot
