I lost (or it was stolen) my wallet with driver’s license, social security card, credit cards in it.(on subway, Boston). Unfortunately, I forgot to put social security card back to my home after making copy for my lawyer to prepare H1-B application. I canceled my credit cards and reported this incident to police.
Could somebody kindly give me some advice on following questions?
1. Since there is birth date and address on my driver’s license, do I need to report this to the 3 credit bureaus?
2. It is possible the guy who got my wallet knows my social no as well and I do not have the social security card anymore, do you need to apply for a new social security card or wait for I changed my status from F1 to H1-B.
What others do you think I should do?
I would really appreciate if you give advice.
