W4 Allowances in 485 pending? 666sss2005-05-13 15:22:03

I have a question for experts:

I am H1 working as a postdoc in university and recently got a job in a company, and I will use my 485-associated EAD card to work there. My 140 has been approved.

The company requires me to finish my W4 form, and there is a question for Allowances, I am married and my wife does not have a job. Her F-1 Visa is going to expire this summar. So what number should I put in the Allowances?

Somebody said for aliens, even you are married, you are still classified as single for tax purpose. But what is our status? alien or non-alien?

Secondly, what additional withholding should I put? The company is in NY state.
