I changed schools while in the US once (in 2000). As a result, if I leave the US I have to attend an interview to re-apply for an F-1 visa, which can be very difficult. For this reason I have been stuck in the US for the past 5 years.

I am now a permanent resident in Canada (immigrant)landed in May 2005, and want to travel outside North America for a period. I am wondering how difficult it would be for me to apply for a F-1 visa with my current status? I will get my PhD soon, so I am concerned that if my visa is rejected I cannot continue my studies.

If any one has any idea to share-----thanks so much!
