The Ukrainian army says it has destroyed command posts and ammunition depots as its southern offensive around the southern city of Kherson continues.
According to the military's Operational Command South, 16 air strikes were carried out on Russian strongpoints, ammunition depots and troops in the south in the past 24 hours.
It adds that Ukrainian artillery hit four Russian command posts and four river crossings in the Kherson region.
President Volodymyr Zelensky did not specifically mention the counter-offensive in his regular video address last night, only saying that "active hostilities are taking place almost along the entire frontline - in the south, in Kharkiv Region and in Donbas".
Russia's defence ministry said Ukrainian forces, after trying to go on the offensive in three different directions in the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions, had lost over 1,200 military personnel as well as 139 tanks, armoured vehicles and trucks, Reuters reports.
The BBC has been unable to verify the claims of either side.
