Bandwagon Fans
This morning our son Zhuzi told us at the breakfast table “I will win a candy at school today.” We immediately asked why. Zhuzi answered “Last Friday I predicted Rams would win over Bengals in Sunday's Super Bowl game at my crew class and my teacher would award a candy to those who predicted the right result.” Unfortunately, our hometown team Bengals lost to Rams 20:23 last night. As a matter of fact, last Friday Zhuzi explained why Bengals would fail thanks to a couple of factors-Bengals is an underdog team, Rams is battling at their home and Bengals has exhausted its lucks after winning AFC champion. Zhuzi even restated that Bengals had a pair of jokers when playing cards in the past games but might not have the same good cards any more for Super Bowl. We did not pay attention to our son's remarks until we saw 20:23 at the end of the game last night.
Then Zhuzi pointed to us “you are bandwagon fans to Bengals!” “bandwagon fans? What does it mean?” we were surprised. Zhuzi paraphrased “Bandwagon fans are defined as sports fans who have shown no past loyalty to a team, and who only support them when they are doing well.” We had to nod our heads in agreement.
Today (02/14/2022) is Valentine's Day and we celebrate love and friendship by exchanging cards, flowers, and candy. I wish every day is Valentine's Day and we are loyal fans to our family.
