So many years have passed since my youngest daughter Z swam in her final swimming competition for her summer team. Those days with the swim team in the summer time were full of fun. Friends, picnics, taking pictures and videos while nervously watching her competing, etc., left some beautiful memories for me. When Z suddenly decided not to go back to the team in order to pursue a different sport, I felt a good sense of loss. Even though she later achieved a lot more in the other sport, I still miss those swim meets, even today.
Swim meet finally came back for us. Last month Z went from Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale to watch me swimming in a competition for the first time, in the National Senior Games. It was my turn to get wet in the pool and her turn to take pictures and videos and shout encouragements loudly. I am so glad that she witnessed how I struggled with injuries and saw how I persevered to win a medal. The shared memories are precious.
It was fun, again.
