After reading the post by 猫眯妈 and the response, I could not walk away peacefully as usual. I know 猫眯妈 and people here are all kind animal lovers. But somehow the life of a wild bird may not mean that much to most people as few of us have had any direct interaction with wild animals. I happened to have rescued a baby American Robin about this time last year. He brought me so much happiness over the 9 months of companionship, though I eventually lost him to a sad disease. By all means he meant as much as a dog or a cat to me. To memorize him and to raise the awareness of protection of wild birds, I'd like to post the tribute I have written for him (pics included). http://rainflower2006.spaces.live.com/default.aspx

I adopted two cats after Dash died, partly because of the unbearable regret and sadness of losing him in such a sudden. I love my kitties very much. As a dedicated caregiver of animals, I would like to urge cat and dog owners to restrain your babies indoor or under leash when outdoor, especially during the mating season of wild birds (May - August). Afterall, our pets are not natural enemies of wild birds and their lives should not be jeopardized by our loved ones. THANK YOU!!
