Essentially, trimetazidine has been reclassified and downgraded. As of January 1, it will not be on the banned stimulant list.(https://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/news/sun-yang-doping-case/)。

The fact is that Trimetazidine, which Sun Yang took for justifiably medicinal purposes in 2014, is no longer banned by FINA, even in-competition. It is deemed not performance enhancing. It was on the list only for a short period of about one year. So even if Sun Yang took the med today, it would have been entirely legal. It is really not fair to label Sun Yang doping based on this.”

Yes, it's still banned and upgraded to higher level.
