The passenger-side side view mirror on my daughter’s Toyota RAV4 was damaged while she parked at her school last Thursday. Don’t know who did it.

I took it to a auto body shop and their estimate is $290 parts + $52 labor. It’s reasonable considering $350 parts + $168 labor at the dealer.

However, when I searched online, there are side view mirror assemblies at about $50 (they are not made by Toyota but fit the specific model).

Does anyone know how important it is to use genuine parts? Can I request the auto shop to replace with parts that I supply?

Junk yard is the best place to find parts

只换镜就可以了，20-40吧。除非支撑部分损坏了。

简单的工具和一些时间就可以自己换。即使送修也看看视频至少心里有底。

ebay上找拆车件，最好同色的

谢谢大家。是只是镜子和镜架坏了。看着好象不难换，自己试试吧。就是买来是黑的，还要自己漆一下。eBay上没有找到同款同色的。

一般在driver door frame上有车漆的代码。还有别忘了最后用clear coats

別忘了Prime,塑膠件的Prime過程有點複雜，但不做的话很容易掉漆

把你的color code给NAPA,他们会给你配色，20一罐喷漆足够了

Update一下。看到漆一下要那么多步骤，打退堂鼓了。给body shop打了个电话，他们不能买third party

最省钱最理想的修法是去junk yard找同样的
