My lawyer is asking for the remained fee. But he did not do what he is supposed to do for some reason. Basically I did everything by myself on green card appliction. I am not goign to pay for the service he did not provide. How should I argue with him?

Thanks for any suggestion!

The contract was atterny fee 1,4K in the begining and another 1,8K after 140 approval. My 140 has approved. I am waiting for 485 approval.
What he did not do was writing the cover letter and filling the forms 140 and 485 because he was trying to handle too many cases before Oct 1, which is obviously beyond his capability.

He insisted to ask for 1.8k and threatened me that he would tell USCIS to withdraw himself from the case. Does that matter really?

What makes me upset is that he never told the truth that he couldn't write the cover letter. I almost failed to file the application. Anyway, I wrote recommendation letters, cover letter, and completed the application forms. The help from him was little. To be fair, $1,4k is a pretty good price for him, I think.

Now, I don't know what to do.

Please help.
