I have posted my issue about the argument between my lawyer and myself. My layer is asking me remained 1.8k for green card application. I disagreed this price although it is on our contract. My reason is that he did not write me the cover letter and fill the 140 and 485 forms. Honestly, he did go over the letter and forms, but that took him less than one hour. At that time he was trying to handle too many cases which is obviously beyond his capability. Was he really taking care of clients? Or just making money as much as he could? In addition, he hardly replied email and phone call. That alone made me almost fails to send application because I had no clue on how to get it done. Fortunately, I got a lot of help from friends.
Regardless all the details and whatever reasons, my lawyer did not provide the professional service that was written in the initial contract. I am asking for a less payment and I think it is reasonable.
I have been told by a lawyer that attorney fee is based on his/her service, which can be calculated by the time consumed. There is a standard time for immigration service.
My point is that I am not trying to break the contract so that I can pay less. It is my lawyer who broke the contract. He did not fully provide the professional service, let alone his unprofessional attitude!!!
Am I supposed to pay him as he wishes because he is THE lawyer and I am not? Does he really have a way to trash me?
Any suggestions?
