我是2003/7/27开始的H-1B，从F-1转的身份。其后没有离开过美国。我的I-94上写的有效期是07/27/2003到07/27/2006。最近我问律师是否需要renew我的H-1B，律师回信如下：
"You do not need to have a Visa in your passport - based upon your last H-1B - in order to file for the new H-1B extension. Remember, that the Visa allows you to come into the U.S. If you have not left, you really do not need one. I do like to have my client's get one - just in case of an emergency and they have to travel home on short notice, etc. -
And yes, the only places where Visas are now issued are in the individual's home country (where they must do it) and in other Consular offices (like Quebec City, Toronto, etc.) - where they do not necessary have to do it. It is a courtesy on their part to do it - or not to do it.
I would advise to wait until after you get your new H-1B approval, so that when you do go overseas, and get a new Visa based upon that, - you will be able to have the visa expiration date of 07/27/2008 - instead of the current expiration date of 07/27/2006. If you do travel, you MUST be back in the U.S. PRIOR to 07/27/2006."
看上去如果我不离境，好像暂时不需要办。是这样吗？但是如果I-94过期了会有什么问题呢？最好怎么处理呢？知道的人能指点一下吗？
