I am going to file I-485 for me and my hu*****and. I have a question on the I-485 form’s part 3. Its question 3 is “Have you ever received public assistance in the United State from any source, including the United States government or any state county, city or municipality?”
My hu*****and received New York State Unemployment Insurance payments in 2003. His Visa status was H-1 when he got layoff in 2003 and his visa was transferred into H-4 when he was actually receiving the payment. It seems to be a mistake as NY state suspended the payment after they reviewed my hu*****and’s visa status.
My question is whether we should answer “yes” for this question on I-485, and if “yes”, will that cause any trouble?
