I am going to file I-485 for me and my hu*****and. I have a question on the I-485 form’s part 3. Its question 3 is “Have you ever received public assistance in the United State from any source, including the United States government or any state county, city or municipality?”
My hu*****and received New York State Unemployment Insurance payments in 2003. His Visa status was H-1 when he got layoff in 2003 and his visa was transferred into H-4 when he was actually receiving the payment. But, after the first 3 weeks, NY state suspended the payment after they reviewed my hu*****and’s visa status being H4. We did try to contact them, but the government was mess. Nobody really understood it and then we gave it up.
My question is whether we should answer “yes” for this question on I-485, and if “yes”, will that cause any trouble?
