I will drive a car to Vancouver for landing and would like to come back to US per “auto visa validation”. I have two questions and appreciate any helps.

1.Is it wise to schedule a visa appointment in advance right now in case if I or my wife get checked and have to apply for the H1/H4 visa in Canada to come back? What concerns me is if we do so, we may have some troubles at the border when we try to use the auto visa revalidation. The custom/immigration officer may be able to find out the visa scheduling on their system and refuse us to use the visa auto revalidation.
2.I have heard some of the immigration/custom officers will not grant the visa revalidation and may ask for a new visa stamp. If that happens, can I come back another day and try with another officer? Will they keep any record of my refused reentry?

Your help is greatly appreciated!
