What's the use of confirmation number after making appointment w morningcall2008-09-16 22:09:30

What's the use of confirmation number after making appointment with U.S. Consulate in China? Do we need to put it on DS156 or DS157? Or to the bank in China when we paid for it?

We don't get any confirmation email?
