Clock with a halted pendulum
I have an ancient clock
Its long pendulum, motionless
No longer connected to time
But it has a quartz heart
Dancing to the light and darkness
Ceaselessly
Trace back year after year
I can't recall
When the pendulum halted
Was it your finger or mine
That accidentally shattered
The gear bestowing eternity to the pendulum

Jenny Middleton - I like how visual this poem is whilst making a point about aging and holding on to a perfect moment for 'eternity'. Thought provoking share. a day ago
laughingpoet - Yes, great write I had a clock like that. Wait, I still have it, it looks too nice to throw away and too expensive to repair so no worries that time has stopped.
Nicely written
I stayed at a boutique hotel in New Orleans years ago. I saw this old clock as described in my poem in the hotel's lobby. I gazed at the clock because I was puzzled by the motionless pendulum and smooth movement of the clock's hands. One staff probably noticed my perplexion and told me that the clock's mechanic broke and was converted to a quartz clock.
