Early 2001: Company filed non-RIR LC application for me. Then 911, World Trade Center fell down, Job Market Winter came. Witnessed thousands of co-workers getting the axe. Survived massive layoffs several rounds. My non-RIR LC application was frozen by Labor Dept due to the massive layoffs.

Summer 2002: Company filed RIR LC application for me. TSC, EB2.

Summer 2003: LC approved.

Summer 2004: 140 approved. 485 filed. EAD/AP approved within 2 months. Name check by FBI started.

Spring 2006: Second fingerprints processed. NC still pending.

Summer 2006: NC still pending. 3rd AP/EAD filed. Started writing letters to senators, congressmen, GWB, and Laura, to seek their assistance in my pending name checks. Efforts in vain.

Oct 2006: Received letter from a senator, arguing name check is necessary for US national security and he cannot help. Received FBI's response to my congressman's inquiry. FBI Name Check Section Chief contended that NC is a must for the country's interest and no timeline for completion can be provided.

End of Nov 2006: Enough is Enough. Filed WOM PRO SE (by myself) at the Federal Court. Summons delivered to the local US Attorney 2 days later.

12/11/06: Called the local US Attorney. He was straightforward and told me his plan was to make FBI clear my NC. Advised me to call back by mid Jan if I don't hear anything back from USCIS.

12/22/06, USCIS proactively called my company lawyer who refused to file WOM for me due to company policy, telling her my NC was cleared.

12/26/06: Received 485 approval email notice from USCIS.

12/30/06: The actual Permanent Resident Card arrived.

Wish everybody who's waiting for his/her GC get what you wanted in 2007!
