I am currently working at a company and will join a university as a faculty member. The starting date for my faculty position is 8/15/07. I am currently on h1b visa. Since the university will have some orientation and training session for new faculty during the 2 weeks before 8/15/07. Can my H1 starting date be 8/1/07? By the way, the starting date on my job offer letter is 8/15/07. Do I need to ask the university to change the offer letter to make the starting date to be 8/1/07? I guess the university put the starting date as 8/15/07 is because this is the start date of the academic year.
