The Harvard Crimson, a student newspaper, reports that Harvard University's time-honored Mandarin program is relocating from Beijing to Taipei.* Program Director Jennifer L. Liu (刘力嘉) complains that in Beijing her students have received unfriendly treatment while celebrating Independence Day earlier this year. In addition, she mentions that another Beijing-based language flagship program (funded by the U.S. Department of Defense) has already moved to Taiwan.
